Our Story

It all began when two gal pals were tired of working for The Man and yearned to create something of their own. 

Holly was a former barista who was looking to get back into the coffee industry.  She was passionate about coffee and the sense of community that it innately fosters.  Alyssa was an accountant who would drink pretty much any coffee you gave her, as long as it provided her daily dose of caffeine.  She didn’t know much about the coffee industry, but she was looking to find the perfect opportunity to build her own business from the ground up.

Holly began showing Alyssa that there was so much more to coffee than just caffeine, and Alyssa quickly became fascinated with all the things she never knew about the industry.  One day, as Holly and Alyssa sat outside with their hubs and their dogs casually chatting about their hopes and dreams, it hit them.  They were forever linked by a mutual love for animals, the beauty of the outdoors, and two certain Eagle Scout Batavia boys, so why not start a business together?

The wheels started turning, and next thing they knew, they had purchased their first roaster.  Holly started roasting beans, working to perfect her craft, and Alyssa started knocking out the administrative details.  That was that – Good Grind Roastery was born.
